After a slow cool start, this summer has proved perfect for a bumper crop of tomatoes. We grow three varieties: Sweet Million (cherry), Early Girl (slicers), and Lemon Boys (heirloom). All are indeterminate because we love the continued production and because the plants are grown vertically on trellises along the side of the house. These heirlooms are a newer favorite - so sweet and meaty, however because of the yellow hue, a sort of optical illusion tends to fool the eye and make taste buds expect a lemony flavor! In a world that talks too much, writing is a way to capture thoughts and shine a light on the enterprise of life - at home, in the kitchen, out in the garden and almost always through a camera lens.
